Default GPS and Ordnance Survey mapping

I want one GPS that does everything. And I don't want to spend a fortune!
Does such a thing exist?
I want to be able to use it like most common ones available to go from A to B via classified roads and then use the street level mapping. I have a TomTom 910 which is very good for this. The one built into my Landrover is also good for this.
I also want to be able to travel (walk, mountain bike, motorbike, 4x4!) the greenlanes, byways, unclassified roads, footpaths, bridleways, etc of the UK. To expect Europe level may be a step too far.

I only know of the following that can do these things:-
  1. Garmin 60Cx. Reviews are good from walkers/MTB sites so its good off road and its waterproof (I believe!). Is the screen big enough? Is it user friendly for a non techie? Is it useable/programmeable whilst traveling?
  2. RoadAngel Adventurer 9000. With Memory map software at c.£275. Sounds like a good idea - rugged, waterproof, "safety" camera alerts, street level mapping. Any good on a bike or motorbike?
  3. The MIO P360 and P560. £300+ depending on bundle required. I don't think these are rugged, waterproof or suited to use on any form of bike. It is basically a PDA with mapping software (very good software) added.

Is there anything else out there worth looking at?

Default Other Options

Hi there,

The 60c is a good option if hiking and cycling are a priority as it's small and rugged, although another very good option potentially is a Garmin 278 (or perhaps a secondhand 276C if you don't want to spend a fortune), this was designed for marine use but works fine for automotive and other uses, the screen is bigger than the 60c and the unit is larger (hence the 60c is better for walking)

Because it's Garmin you can load different maps (i.e cyclemaps if you want to go cycling, purchased separately)

Many off-road motorcyclists use a 200 series, it has quite a few routing features (measure distance, follow track, reverse route, etc) that can't really be used easily on other automotive units, and it also does quite a bit of what a 60c does and the screen is nice and large (larger than a Streetpilot, 60c and a bit larger the Zumo). It looks a bit dated, but it's still an excellent unit, although it's not cheap:

Hello buddy.

I have a Road Angel 7000 Adventure. It is a spedd camera detector, sat nav and has the ability to use the Multi Map OS mapping.

Quite simply it is F&(King ACE!

I have the OS maps for the National parks for walking but they are avalible for the whole country. you get soft were that will allow you to see the OS map in 3D on your computer and you can also set routes and info for your journey. (So you just follow the blue line...)

Very simple and very accurate.

Feel free to ask any questions.
