Hi everyone,
I am currently shopping for a GPS unit and find it very difficult to make my mind. Which unit are you using and what feature do you like best? Here are some of the units that I am debating about: Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx; Garmin eTrex Legend HCx; Garmin eTrex Vista HCx; Garmin StreetPilot 2610; and Tom Tom Rider. Have a great holiday. Gaetz |

Currently I am using a Zumo 550 for motorcycly riding. Could not be happier. If there is one thing I could add, once you find one with everything you think you will need or use, also consider how often the manufacturer updates their software. Do to the price and the changes of the highway system, technical upgrades, and software/hardware chnages, this is important to get the most of your unit. Many times, old hardware may not be compatable with the newest saftware available.
I read somewhere where many of the garmin units that typically go on sale for a considerably less than their original price are scheduled for decommision. So many times these have been on the market for many years and the updates from garmain may not be compatable for future usage. If money is a major concern, try for somthing thats been out 2-3 years, I want to say 5 years of garmin updates that are compatable would be about average. |

Hi,
Perhaps a silly question since you are selling Garmin products but I wonder if you give me a good advice what GPS to buy for my motorcycle. For the moment I have a Tom Tom and I am not that impressed or happy with that one. Regards Fredric |

That depends what you want really, what you use the unit for mainly and how much you want to spend.
Zumo 500 or 550 are good all round choices, the 500 being the cheapest but with an SD card, it can do most of what the 500 does (but no car kit) If you like to fiddle more, you could get a 2nd hand Streetpilot, or my personal favourite, a 278 but to justify this you really need to know why you want one. A zumo is a very good combination of most of the features you'll need, the antenna is good and it has a battery, and quite good route and track options Does that help? David |

I've got a Tomtom Rider for the bikes and a Tomtom 910 for the car. I've also got the Porsche 2002 (Navtec I think) in my Boxster.
The 910 maps are out of date and can't be corrected. It's not worth my while buying new maps. I'd be better off buying a new system. |

Just bought a Nuvi 760T as a replacement for Nuvi 300T (going to daughter at Uni)
My main requirement was that routes can be imported from MapSource as I hated the old one for not doing that when I had carefully created my routes for Picos/Pyrenees/Alps. The bonus is that the FM transmitter will mean I can listen to MP3 and directions in my helmet ![]() |
