Default To TMC or not to TMC

TMC is a system which is broadcast on FM by certain providers and provides information about traffic and construction on roads which can then be picked up by your GPS if it has a TMC antenna (some systems have this built in, but for Garmin Zumo it's not normally packaged, presumably because traffic info is less importanr for motorcyclists)

What's cool about TMC is that your GPS can work out a route to a destination which avoids all the busiest spots.

I've heard that the traffic service is not free in some countries, although I don't know which these are.

For Garmin you would need a GTM 12 Antenna for a motorcycle system (which of course, could also be used in a car, there are also GTM 20 or GTM 21 systems for car use. As with the telephone function, the TMC will only work on a powered unit (i.e. it won't work on the battery
