Rather annoyingly, I've just found out (after getting it) that MetroGuide Australia is not routable.

I'm not sure why this is (as Metroguide USA includes a routable map that can be used to make routes on the PC) but beware if you're thinking about this product. I just checked and it seems that MetroGuide Canada behaves the same (i.e. non-routable)

After much discussion and negotiation, Garmin agreed to give me a discount on City Navigator Australia after my problem with MetroGuide. Beware if you're considering buying this product that you need to carefully read through all the data on website about the routing capabilities of each version as the Garmin website gives different information the precise product features depending on which entry point you use.

To Summarise:

MetroGuide Australia : Non-Routable
MetroGuide Canada: Non-Routable
MetroGuide United States : Routable

Hopefully this will save someone having the same problem that I had

Thanks to Garmin finally for helping me resolve this issue, I had to really persuade them of my grievance, but in the end they came up with a good solution for me.
