Thumbs up Autocom Pro 7 Static Noise Question

I am thinking of either the Zumo550 or Rider 2. A friend has just bought at Zumo 500, and as he is away for a while, has lent it to me to try out on the bike. (VFR800)

I have a Autocom Pro 7 system installed, and plugging a normal double male ended headset cable between the Zumo and the Pro 7, I am getting a lot of static/noise, which drowns out everything. I assume that this is why Autocom sells a special lead that costs an arm and a leg. Can anyone confirm this.
Thanks
Ian

Ref the above, this is a copy of the email to and reply from Autocom about the noise and conection of a Zumo550 and Rider 2.

Question:---
I have a couple of questions to ask about connections from a GPS (I'm
considering both the Zumo 550 or Rider 2.) and a Pro7 sport.

Earlier I sent you a message about connecting the Rider 2 and I was
told that I needed the bluetooth dongle. The question is that if I
use that to connect the Rider 2 (or even the Zumo550) and then also
use my mobile phone (via bluetooth) would they confuse each other?

If I want to connect the 550 with the direct lead, I see that I need
part 1300. Is there something special about this lead? I have
borrowed a friends 500 and connected it to my Pro7 using a normal
double male lead, and get lots of interference, so much so that
anything coming out of the 500 is impossible to hear. I assume this
would be eliminated with the dedicated lead.

Answer:-
The TomTom 2 can only run on Bluetooth connection due to how the system
is designed. So the set up will be the case of the Part 1273 will pair
direct with TomTom main control unit. You will then pair your phone
direct to the TomTom to allow for the full phone use.

The Part 1300 is our retro interface lead for the Zumo, it contains
isolation so no bike interference for cleaner sound. It will supply the
music, phone and GPS prompts via the aux 2 socket. Due to the aux 2
socket mainly being designed for phone use the music from the Zumo will
only be in mono split into both of your speakers inside your headset.

If you are wanting to run full stereo sound from the Zumo you will need
to run a Part 1276 which will be like the TomTom style connection. A
Part 1314 will also be needed to supply the music and GPS from the Zumo,
this will plug into the music socket.

Regards
