Being totally clueless to maping etc, I need to ask a question.
At the moment there are no official maps of Cyprus. If I buy a Garmin Zumo 550, can I use the maps on this link on the Zumo. Map list Please help Thanks Ian |

Ok, I just tried downloading this map, configuring it, then sending it to my Zumo and I got it to work. It took some fiddling, but here is what I did:
Downloaded one of the IMG files from Map list Created a directory on my disk called c:\Garmin\Custom Copied the img file that I just downloaded into there (i.e. c:\garmin\custom\11000204.img) Downloaded the free version of cGPSmapper from cGPSmapper - Your Tool For Creating Maps you don't need to buy it if it's only for personal use. Installed the software, then copied the file C:\Program Files\cGPSMapper\cgpsmapper.exe to C:\Garmin\Custom I also created a config file to run with the app in the same directory and called this C:\Garmin\Custom\template.txt, the content of this file is the following: -------------------------------------<<Start of File Content>>--------------------------- [Map] FileName=Cyprus MapVersion=100 ProductCode=62 Color=32 Levels=2 Level0=15 Level1=14 Zoom0=5 Zoom1=6 MapsourceName=Cyprus MapSetName=Cyprus CDSetName=Cyprus Copy1=Garmin Copy2=Nobody [End-Map] [DICTIONARY] Level0RGN10=00000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level1RGN10=00000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef012 3456789abcdef0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef0 Level0RGN20=11111111111000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level1RGN20=11111111110000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level0RGN40=11111000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level1RGN40=11110000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level0RGN80=11111111111111111111110000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 Level1RGN80=11111111111111111111110000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000 [END-DICTIONARY] [Files] img=11000204.img [END-Files] -------------------------------------<<End of File Content>>--------------------------- Then I opened a command window, navigated to c:\garmin\custom and typed: cgpsmapper pv template.txt This executed successfully and a file called Cyprus.reg was created. I changed the content of this file to the following: -------------------------------------<<Start of File Content>>--------------------------- REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\MapSource\Produ cts\Cyprus] "LOC"="C:\\Garmin\\Custom\\" "BMAP"="C:\\Garmin\\Custom\\Cyprus.img" "TDB"="C:\\Garmin\\Custom\\Cyprus.tdb" -------------------------------------<<End of File Content>>--------------------------- And then double clicked on it after saving to add the new map details to the registry so that MapSource could pick them up. Then I open MapSource and there is the map of Cyprus (or at least the unoccupied part of it) (See Attached image) ![]() From MapSource I was able to send the map to my Zumo (for more details on how to do this, see page 17 of this document: http://www.bestbikingroads.com/usefu..._Tutorial1.pdf ) |

Wow! David you have impressed me!
you figure it out very easily it tooked me ages to find out what to do with those programs there is another simpe way for all .img files you can upload em directly to your naviagtor (or to your card) using img2gps or patchimg programs for mapsource version the simpliest way is the one that david posted |

sorry about that, I hope I haven't upset anyone.. . . Stelios, I have tried to use img2gps in the past but with limited success (with the Zumo at least), it seems to copy the img file onto the unit but then I can't seem to get the unit to show the map. I wanted to try this with my 276 to see if it was a difference with the new and old generation of Garmin units but at the moment I'm waiting on a new memory card so I haven't been able to. David |

Hello.
I have used IMG2GPS on my Garmin Quest and 60CSx with much success. I got me a new Zumo450 and IMG2GPS just can't find the device. I've updated the drivers too. I do see the mass storage device of the Zumo in File Explorer. ![]() Any suggestions? Thanks. ![]() |
