Default If You've bought a Zumo, you've also bought MapSource

Hi Patrick,

When you bought your Zumo, you also bought the right to use your Maps (City Navigator v9 in this case) on your PC via MapSource. This comes included in the price of the Zumo.

I've never used this Microsoft Package that you're mentioning, but quite honestly, you can do a great deal with MapSource, so you might be better off just putting it back in the box for the short term, as it seems like you might have quite enough to contend with with the New Zumo toy and MapSource.

MapSource is not the most the intuitive product to use, i.e. I bet the Microsoft tool looks better, but as MapSource is designed by Garmin, it does work very well with their devices.

Just keep a hold of the yellow card with the 25 digit code that came in the box, it's really important that you don't throw this away. (You need this to unlock the maps, see pages 3 and 4 of my tutorial)

Keep the questions coming, that's what the forum's for.

All the Best,

David

David,

Many thanks for your post. You are right. Superficially at least the Autoroute system looks much easier, and prior to having the Zumo It was my preferred method of planning routes. At least I now know that I have authority to use mapsource. It' only a question of technology after that!!

Again, my appreciation for your help

Patrick

Hi, david,

Talk about making good contacts!

Jaws 100 by coincidence lives not far from me and has very kindly offered to help me with the Mapsource.

How did I manage before Navigation.net??

Kind regards
Patrick.

David,

Just reverting back to the downloading of GPS Roadbooks from BBR, thank you for your reply. Regrettably I haven't made progress even with your advice. If I might just take you through the steps as I follow them you might be able to "show me the error of my ways"?

1. Go into BBR
2. Click on GPS Roadbooks
3. Select a route--say for example Route Napoleon N85
4. Download this Roadbook now
5. Save as "routes" in my own files
6. It says "Download complete"
7. Open Mapsource
8. Click on "Open"
9. Go to routes in my own files, but nothing shows up!

Definitely: confused:

Patrick
