Inside your home and your office you cannot have signal from satellite. So it's normal not to have reception

what excactly is your prob when you upload routes from friends?

Default Routes

Hi Michael,

Welcome to Motorcycle-Navigation.net

There are a number of potential issues here. First of all, when you say 'upload' are you talking about to you Garmin unit or to the computer? If someone sends me a route via email of from the web and I can't get it working, I usually work through the following steps:

Go to garmin.com and download the latest version of Mapsource onto your computer (I just had a look and the latest current version is stated as: 6.13.4 (release date: 26th Sept 07) because if your friend has made a route using a newer version of mapsource than you have, you won't be able to use the route on your version of Mapsource.

Secondly, once you have the route loaded into your Mapsource, you may find that the route doesn't look quite right, if this is the case, it may be because the map version that you are using within Mapsource itself is different, (there is for example versions 6,7,8 and 9 that are all still in use). This is not a serious problem though, it simply means that you will need to recalculate your routes from within Mapsource itself.

Now you have this, you should be in a position to send you routes to your GPS unit. so now plug your unit into the USB port of your pc and it should be recognised (sometimes if there is a problem, it map be necessary to close the MapSource Application, unplug the GPS replug in the GPS, switch it on, then restart MapSource)

You should now send the routes to your GPS unit, depending on which unit you have, it may also be necessary to send the map detail itself.

Does that help?
If you still have problems, check the maps for MapSource are actually unlocked and let me know what type of unit you are using.

David

Default Not a problem

It's not a problem for me at this stage Stelios, I'll probaby do something similar at some stage (when I get a moment)

Until then, that will be useful.

I think your problem is that your Mapsource V9 has not been updated to latest Version. 6.13.4 You can check by opening Mapsource on your PC click> Help then> about Mapsource. Check the version loaded. If not as above you need to update.

If not latest version this is where to go to download :

Default No Problems

Hi Michael,

I'm also putting together a Tutorial document for MapSource which is nearly finished which may also help (a bit like the one Stelios posted a link for but more comprehensive), it should be finished quite soon so that might also be useful to you

Good Luck.

David
