Having left my lap top on all night downloading the latest map update for Europe, when the install box appears it tells me that the maps are now too big for my device. The FAQs on the Garmin site say I can download the lot via mapsource to the SD card on the Zumo 550. My question is how big an SD card does it need and if it is over 2gb can I use an SDHC card. If I can't get the whole of Europe on the Zumo this is a backward step! Bill.

The City Navigator maps for 2009 are about 1.57GB so a two GB card should be sufficient.
I don't have the information for the 2010 map but it shouldn't be way off that. If your unit runs out of memory you have a couple of options that I can think of, these are: The memory on your unit itself can be taken up by MP3 tracks, photos, etc, or another map, delete these and try again. Secondly, it is possible to explicitly load the maps onto the SD card for the unit rather than the unit memory itself, to do this open MapSource, select the map you want to load onto the unit the when you select send to the unit, select the unit memory card from the drop down list (by default, this is not selected, rather the unit memory itself) Or if neither of these work, possibly it is a software problem with the unit, so try downloading the latest version of the unit software for you unit, the current version for the Zumo 550 is 4.80, for more info, see here: Garmin: zumo 550 Updates & Downloads HTH, David |
