Default City Navigator Europe 2008

There are rumors saying that the most recent map for Garmin devices, City Navigator Europe 2008, contains no news. This is wrong. There are plenty of improvements.

The map has grown in size from 1.22 GB to 1.36 GB. I only have CN2008 on two of my GPS devices so far, not in Mapsource, so I've not been able to make any more serious comparisons yet. I noticed though that countryside coverage in east Europe has improved a lot!

Is there any change to find out the updates from CN ver 9 to CN 2008?
I am looking for Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and from maps basically. I have found a 3rd party map for mapsource and i will buy it if the new version doesn't cover those territories.
So can anyone post the changelog and does anyone knows when CN 2008 will be out?

tnx in advance

I did a small search at the net and i find out that there is no new version for europe maps and still no roumors about something new.
The only new version is for North America.
Also lots of websites named ver 9 as ver 2008.

Probably we wont see anything new this year

Correct me if I am wrong (I hope so)

Hilton
Just finding my way around the site. Sorry if this has been covered but we recently rode throughout Slovenia using CN Europe 2008. Very good detail even tiny roads well covered. One strange thing though. No water or rail features would show up. Not the settings in the Nav III, Austria, Italy, Germany were fine with no changes. Weird. Maybe they didn't proof the maps prior to release as even NT V9 had Lake Bled.

Default Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia

Aha, hi there Hilton!

Hope you're still enjoying your adventure.

I had a quick look at the differences between V9 and V2008 of CN Europe and found the following:

For Slovenia, as you saw, the coverage on 2008 is much improved
For Croatia, it looks much the same on both
For Serbia, and this is really strange, it seems that the base map for version 9 actually has more detail than the now selectable regions on version 2008! Very strange . . .

Here are some screen shots so that you can see for yourself what I mean:

Version 9 : Slovenia and Croatia:

V2008 Slovenia and Croatia:

And now the very odd Serbian maps:

Which while they look quite detailed, cannot be sent to the unit! (which I suppose means that it's on the basemap?)

And then V2008 of Serbia:

and another:

Maybe this helps?!?
