Default Maps On Nuvi 600

Hi
I have a nuvi 660 but do not know how to get maps on the pc. I used to have a street pilot III and the maps were on a mapsource disk but this unit has all the maps already loaded.

Default Maps for your PC

I'm not 100% sure about this but:

Your unit should be packaged with a yellow card with a 25 digit code on it, this is all you need to unit maps for a particular region (register for an account on mygarmin.com with your 25 digit code and your unit serial number to find out what you have if you're not sure).

Then all you need is the appropriate City Navigator version disc (e.g. version 98 NT) , the discs themselves can be loaded but the maps need to be unlocked with your 25 digit code. Garmin will probably send you a disc free if you don't have one, or get a copy from a friend, or ask your local dealer.

Just Make sure that you check the version of City Navigator for which you have a license as if your 25 digit code is for an earlier version (e.g. v8) then you need a version 8 City Navigator CD to use it.

I might also be possible to load the maps from the unit back to MapSource, but IMO getting the disc and doing it the unlock way is the best.

HTH,

David

Default

Thanks David,
I have registered at myGarmin and this is the version :- City Navigator Europe NT v9 Deluxe Unlock which was preloaded and it was unlocked by me in March last year. The only disc with the unit was the owners manual. As I was writing this I thought I'd give garmin support a ring and they tell me that Mapsource does not comunicate with the Nuvi 660 directly. But if I had Mapsource I could map out my route on a pc, break the route down into way points and then transfer the way ponts to my favourites. And luckily as they have just updated the mapsource software they have some old disks so they are sending me one out in the post.

Default whoops

Well, so it appears that the info I gave you wasn't entirely correct, sorry about that.
