Default Problems with Garmin Nuvi Suction mount

If you are having problems with the Garmin nuvi suction mount (i.e. it keeps falling off the windscreen) rather than replace it with another one, one option is to go for the 'Portable Friction Mount' which is like the old bean bag favourite of Streetpilot owners.

The part number for this item is: 010-10908-00 : Portable Friction Mount

I prefer this solution, but it's not so widely advertised.

Surely these are no use on a bike?
I use a little silicon oil on the sucker but always tie-wrap the power lead to the mount leg for absolute security on a bike.

Apologies for the confusion, by windscreen, I meant car windscreen. Just realised that it could be interpreted wrongly.

The problem I find with mounting my Zumo on the windscreen, is that to have it not obscuring my vision it has to be too far away. ie, a long stretch forward to get at. I've started to mount it on the drivers door front 'quaterlight' (small fwd window). I find that its easy to see, and I can work it OK.

Another thing I do, is that I have put some velcro on the car dash where I want the mount, and I have put the other half of the velcro on the back of the flat disc that the suction cap "sticks" on. Then I just fix the disc to the velcro, and the Zumo mount to the disc.

Bean bag sounds a good option though.
