My Quest has started showing the wrong heading. Looks like its out by 180 deg. I only noticed this problem when traveling into a sunrise (rough East). The display showed W?
How can this be fixed? |

Best thing to do is probably to upload all of your information (waypoints, routes, etc) into MapSource (i.e. back them up) then do a hard reset of the unit:
Press PAGE+OK+POWER and install the latest updates from Garmin: Garmin: Quest Updates & Downloads Obviously, this will delete all your data from the Quest so make sure you've got it all copied out first. . . . It sounds like a software problem, so I'd be surprised if this doen't resolve it. David |

Thanks for the info. But still have a problem. My laptop won't read any of the cd's supplyed with the Quest GPS, so I haven't put mapsource onto the laptop. Apart from the heading problem the Quest works just fine. Is there any alternitive way to get mapsource onto my laptop ie download it? (disc drive reads DVDs perfect) I won't be performing a hard reset without mapsource on my laptop as I fear it will delete the maps from my Quest (Australia) is that correct?

It took a while to figure this one out. Went into units setup menu and magnetic variance was set to 160 Deg. Have no idea why, but just reset this setting back to 000 Deg. and all is good. Have still to load mapsource on GPS but will have access to a PC this afternoon. Thanks for your help sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
