Default On-Route and TomTom / Garmin units

On-Route can export your route as a TomTom compatible itn file (make sure when you load the route into your unit that make the appropriate settings so that the unit knows your route is not a motorway route)

For Garmin units, On-Route can export the route directly to your unit immediately (route recalculation will then be necessary to match the route exactly to the maps on your unit)
or the route can be opened and further edited in MapSource.

Hi Dale,

Try the following and see if it helps you:

On the unit, go to 'Trip planner' -> 'Add Trip / Route' -> 'Load Trip Plan' (then select the file on the unit that you just loaded)

When you want to navigate this route, you would normally choose 'Shortest Route' however, it is a good idea just to check on the screen that your route appears correctly. If not, it may be necesary to select another option (although most of the time Shortest route should work)

Other points:

Another issue can be with the waypoints themselves on your route, once you have passed them, sometimes the unit does not recognize this. In this case it is necessary during the trip to mark the points as visited so that this does not disrupt your route.

Additionally, with some TomTom units the maximum number of Waypoints on one trip is 48, so it is a good idea if you are planning long trips to break one route down into a few smaller routes.

HTH

David
