Red face Streetpilot 2610 - Safety Cameras

I have singularly failed to find (and satisfactorily upload) Safety Camera information to my 2610.
Does anybody have a) source and b) foolproof method of adding this information to a 2610?

Replies on a PC please ...........

Default Not Sure

If it's the same as for the 2720 and 2820 then you need to use Garmin's POI loader and make a load of manual warning settings yourself on the unit.

Is that about roughly what you're trying to do?

Default Safety Cameras on 2610

David,

I tried once to upload some Safety camera maps from pocketgps but it didn't work. Garmin will not provide any help because the 2610 is no longer a current product. I am left hunting for someone who has successfully achieved the aim.

Any help would be most gratefully accepted.

Default 2610 speed Cameras

Actually thinking about it now the differences between the 2610 and 2720/2820 would mean that you can't use the Garmin POI loader I think.

You need to use a map overlay and you can find it here:

HTH,

Smile Safety Cameras on 2610

Success, well, moderately so!

I managed to download the overlay (as last time) but the help info on pocket gps has been improved. Now I can see the SCs - but too many at small magnification, eg 20 miles so that I have to manually remove the 'map' overlay to be able to see my route.

Any idea how to make the images smaller or turn them off at, say, 2 miles? Either option would probably mean that I have the (near) optimum set-up on my 2610.

Default 2610 Overlay

I'm afraid I don't but if you send me the overlay files, I can take a look and see if I can recommend something

Unhappy Safety Cameras

David,

Sorry, no can do.
Pocketgps made it VERY clear that I must not pass it on to others. Apparently they have incorporated a 'device' to track who is using the information and they will prosecute.

Ah, well, I tried.

Thanks, anyway.

Default No problem

I understand completely. I did wonder after I'd made the comment about whether I should have done actually.

What format is the file/s they have sent you? (i.e. what file extension do they have?)

The file extension is .msi before installation (currently at work so not downloading to work PC).

Oh, so it's actually packaged with an installer (.msi) is the Microsoft installer type that's quite good.

What I would need is the format of the files that are actually sent to the 2610 itself to see if they could be modified so that the map format is changed, however by the sound of it, this may take us a while to get to the bottom of this way so you might decide that it's better just to put up with it for now.

In any case, feel free to keep investigating, I'll give you any help that I can.
