I resolved this problem by installing an older version of the firmware for the 2720, then restarting the unit and running the Garmin Web Updater to re-install the latest fimware version.
Strange, I think it had something to with behaviour for enabling and disabling the maps on the unit and the way this interacts with the maps that are pre-installed on the unit memory. David |

Don't know if this is relevant to the problem described, but I have both Topo Canada and City Navigator North America NT 2008 on my 2720 and in order to use Topo Canada I must disable City Navigator in "Map" > "Detail Maps".
With City Navigator disabled, if I choose "Where To?" > "Address", I get 'No detail maps are available to search'. My software version is 7.20. I've been searching for information for both my 276c and my SP2720 and I just came across this site today. it's by far the best I've found for motorcycle GPS. Although I was registered on BestBikingRoads back in '05, after two consecutive hard drive failures, I had lost all of my contacts. Harry |

First, I'm not familiar with either unit. However, my first question is: is the topo map searcheable at all?
If you load CN only search works? If you load topo map only can you then search? I suspect not. If this is correct, then you may have to disable the topo map for search on CN to work. Just a few ideas, I could be barking up the wrong tree. Cheers, Peter. |

Hi there,
The additional symptoms you describe are the same as I saw for the problem I had. Did you try loading an old version of the firmware? If you let us know which version you currently have I can have a look around for an older version for you. Sorry for bullying your post Beddhist ![]() |

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I've found the cause of the problem. After loading the latest release of Topo Canada, I no longer get the message and it does the address search... because the latest version includes street address numbers. The earlier release did not have the street numbers and consequently generated the somewhat misleading message.

... which confirms my suspicion the the topo map was not searchable. I'm glad you got it sorted out.
I still think that somehow the topo map takes priority over the CN map, meaning you probably won't be able to search anything on CN as long as the topo is ON. |
