BMW Motorrad Navigator II Map Unlock Problem

Hi there,

I was helping a customer this weekend who'd been given a Motorrad Navigator II with a bike that he'd bought and whenever the unit was switched on, it kept complaining that the map was locked and prompting for an unlock code.

The customer had an unlock code but entering it was not valid and he was understandly a bit frustrated about that.

Having seen a problem like this before on a 2720 where the unlock message was actually coming from a 2nd installed map (which of course, would have a different unlock code), I immediately starting trying to find a way to display which maps were installed on the unit, but oddly enough, I could not seem to find a way to do this (presumably it is possible?)

In any case, after several minutes it became clear that I would not be able to solve the problem quickly this way, so I simply installed the maps for the unit on my pc (the unlock code was valid for the maps on the cd, i.e. City Navigator v6) and plugged the unit into my PC and sent the maps to the unit, (i.e. overwriting all existing maps on the unit)

And the problem was solved, so if you have a similar problem, this should work for you as well
