Default Uploading routes from my Zumo to my PC - or not.

I have managed to save a track I followed on the Bike as a route on my Zumo 550 but when I try and upload it to map source on my PC it tells me I have no routes to upload? All works OK in the other direction as I can download somre old routes from map source to the Zumo. I tried saving the route to the SD card and than just copying that to the PC and trying to open the file with Mapsource but that didn't work either. The file is a .GPX file but the old routes saved on ther PC are garmin gps data files. I'm obviously doing something wrong but what?

Default Routes and Tracks

Routes and tracks are treated as different items by MapSource. If you recorded it as a track, you will need to select it to upload as a track

Check Page 20 of this document for more info:

I suspect that you will only be able to upload it as a route if you select 'convert track to route' from the Zumo. However I wouldn't recommend that you do this if you only want to upload it your PC as tracks contains lots of interesting info in them that routes do not (hence this would be lost)

HTH,

David

Thanks David,

I'll try uploading it as a track and seeing what else this gives me too play with. I have found the problem with uploading the route though. You are right I had to convert the track to a rooute on the Zumo first but I had already found this through stumbling around the unit's menu. I overcame the uploading a route problem though by updating the software on the Zumo, the latest is now 3.90 and also updating my MapSource version as it was way out of date. I thought it would have updated when I loaded the new maps that came with the Zumo but it looks like it didn't so was probably the version that came with my old Quest. The latest MapSouce version by the way is 6.13.7

I'm going to go and tick the box on the Garmin site now so that it will e-mail me when there is an update.
