Default Flags

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can change waypoint markers from flags to something else? I see I have some waypoint 'dots' in the Garmin files on my PC but no idea how to install them and get rid of the flags.
Any suggestions please?

Default Change the waypoint marker type in MapSource

The icon used by waypoint markers is defined from within MapSource itself, you can set the default icon for waypoints here to whatever you like by using: Edit -> Preferences -> Waypoint, then selecting the waypoint icon you desire.

If you don't like any of the standard icons, you can select your own by following the instructions here:
If your MapSource Map has too many Waypoints on it

If you're talking about the chequered flag at the end of a navigated route calculated by the Zumo unit itself, I haven't yet found a way that this can be changed (although I imagine that would mean changing one of the compiled files on the unit itself)

HTH.

Hi,

In spite of numerous attempts to follow your instructions, the brown waypoint flags remain!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Hi there,

If you can provide a bit more detail about the problem and what you're trying to do to resolve it, maybe I can help.

Default Think we've got the same prob as JohnW

Hi David

I'm also having trouble with too many waypoints showing up in mapsource after importing a track from my zumo 550. I followed the instructions you gave John W but when I open a saved .gdb file, it doesn't list the hundreds of waypoints that the zumo auto recorded and are displayed in mapsource. Any ideas?

Cheers, DnA

Hi There DnA,

I must say I'm not really sure that I understand what exactly the problem here is but:

Presumably your first problem was that you had a very large track in your GPS (i.e. with many points). And when you downloaded this from your unit into MapSource you could see all the points correctly? (If not it could be that you have not downloaded all the points correctly from the unit, let me know if this is the case)

You should then be able to see the tracks you've downloaded on the 'Tracks' tab on the left handside of the MapSource pane. There may be one track here or multiple tracks, depending on how the tracks were put together. All the points from all of your tracks should be visible if you select all the tracks from the tracks tab (ctrl+a) then right mouse click and select 'show selected tracks on map'

See Below:

It seems to me unlikely that any of the data would be lost in the save itself unless the file has become corrupted, so it seems more likely (to me at this stage) that some part of your track simply wasn't saved correctly.

Looking at this as an example, what's different to yours?

David
